Bird Flu - under control

After a long gap, the Indian team has performed flawlessly in a test match. The players has shown lot of character and the camaraderie between them is good. The opening pair has been a great success for the team. Gambhir and Sehwag tackle the aussie bowling attack well than any other team's opening pair. The Australian bowling attack seems weak as Lee is not performing as expected and his records against India in India is very poor. Mitchell Johnson beats the pitch with good pace and generates optimum bounce on a flat wicket. With Gilchrist retired and Hayden failing all the 4 innings, the aussie is facing lot of problems with batting. Punter's knock in the 1st innings of 1st test was good to watch but he has failed to carry that form in the 2nd test. Hussey is playing neat cricket and timing the ball well. It doesn't matter much if only a single person alone performs well in a team. The Australian team lacks the aggression. The on-field spat between punter and lee also has created problems. How many people do you thing will agree to donate their organs after they are dead? 1 out of 100? 1 out of 1000? Not even one in a million. "At the end of the life of a 16 year old begins the life of a 9 year old " . It was 25Th september 2008 when Hithendran, son of Dr. Ashokan and Dr.Pusphanjali met with an accident. He was immediately taken to hospital but he was declared brain-dead and nothing could be done to save him. At the same time a 9 year old girl was suffering from a serious heart problem for over a year. Since the parents of hithendran were doctors, they knew the importance of saving a life. They decided to place hithendran's heart to the girl through a major operation. But then heart has to be transported to a hospital 20 kms away and also with 30 minutes. The doctors spoke with the traffic police commissioner and arrangements were made for that in less than 5 mins. Hithendrans heart was taken out and placed in a box of ice . The doctor carrying the heart instead of taking an ambulance went and sat in a police patrol vehicle. The traffic head constable understanding the situation took the wheels and drove the car at 120kmph speed and reached the hospital which is 20kms away in just 11 mins , which is impossible under the city traffic conditions. Thanks to the traffic police who made all the signals on the way turn green. Finally the heart was transplanted to the 9 year old after 6 hours of surgery. Now the girl is recovering well. This is noblest thing i have ever heard of. May God Bless Mr. & Mrs. Ashokan and their family.

CHENNAI CORPORATION AIMING HIGH

The Chennai corporation is taking necessary steps to improve the quality of education provided in government schools. The Local Administration has planned to distribute 844 computers to all the corporation schools in chennai. As a part of a Rs. 2.3 Crore project to improve the standards of the education in the city, Mayor M. Subramanian has planned this programme. The government will provide adequate training to the staffs on the basics of computers and how to use them. The teachers in turn are expected to educate the students about the computers.
The Mayor has urged the teachers to use their newly acquired skills to enhance the learning experience of the students. In addition to this, a sum of Rs. 4.42 lakhs would be distributed among the teachers who had helped the students to score well in the 2008 public examinations. The other cities should take this as a good example and take necessary steps to improve the standards of education.

The Big Four

The Big Four refers to Indian team's senior cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble. As the Australian tour of India began , all the eyes are wide open to see the big four perform well. Is it really happening? From the stats, only Ganguly has played well in the recent test series. Fitness has always been a problem for Anil Kumble and Sachin Tendulkar. The consistency of the four has declined over the period. Inspite of Australia scoring 430 in the 1st innings of bangalore test, the batsmen havn't performed to the full potential. Dravid and Ganguly have scored some runs but they havn't done their duty correctly. Anil Kumble bowling has lost its effectiveness and is fading day by day. Its time for the these people to retire from international cricket and pave way for the youngsters to handle the team. If they don't do it soon, they might have to face more criticism and humiliation.

Is This The End Of Dada's Cricketing Career?

Sovrav Ganguly fondly known as Dada is at the edge of his cricketing career. He has faced more humiliations than any other cricketer. Is this the right way to treat a player who has scored more than 10000 runs in ODIs and neraly 7000 runs in test match. He is one the finest left hand batsman Indian has ever produced. Dada is the only Indian to score century at Lord's as a debutant. Sachin is yet to score a century at Lord's. Am not comparing sachin and dada. Both of them are the pillars of the golden era of Indian cricket. Young Indian team is good to see , but it doesn't mean that the senior players should be forced to retire. He his the highest run getter in ODI for the year 2007-2008 with a batting average of over 56. No one can forget the last match of the Kolkatta Knight Riders in the IPL in which dada hit 86 off just 53 balls . When 15 runs were needed in the last over , he scored that in just 3 balls. He should be given a fair chance in IPL and ODIs. Lets wait and see what happens in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

Will It Be A Success? - We Have To Wait and See

There is so much discussion going on at various communities and forums about the new addition to the list of grand prix - Singapore's Marina Bay Circuit. Singapore's Thompson road circuit is well known to most of the people as it was used for grand prix held in 1960's and 1970's. But this circuit at Marina Bay is a Street Circuit, the 2nd Street circuit in grand prix only next to the Monaco's Monte Carlo Street circuit. So the track is expected to be less wider than the normal racing tracks. The length of the track will be around 5kms. The best thing about the 15th grand pix of this season is that it is going to be a night race . Its the 1st of its kind in the history of Formula 1 racing. The ticket sales were over by the end of March 2008 itself. Singapore government is to spend around $90million singapore dollars for this race. The total capacity of this race track is 110000 seats. There is a Bridge above the track and singapore government has imposed a fine of above $1000 singapore dollars for the people who stop their vehicle to watch the race from the bridge.
