Are We Eating Healthy Food?

Our body's functionality depends on what we eat and drink. But the question is even though we eat healthy food, are they really healthy? With the expansion of industries and cities, the area under agriculture or cultivable land has become less. But the needs of the people in the country have to be met and also the exports should be taken into account. This has lead to the increased use of insecticides and pesticides which not only protect the crops from insects and pests but also help them grow soon in an artificial way. Most of the foods we eat contain vey hazardous chemicals which are cancer-causing and routinely lead to stomach, skin, breathing ailments and even problems in the womb. Pesticides like DDT, HHC, Heptachlor and Chlordane cannot harm humans through inhalation, ingestion or dermatological contact. Boiling and cooking of the vegetables eliminate the effects of any harmful pesticide residues. Pesticides are dangerous, toxic chemicals and we should keep away from them. But they are deadly only for the target. Farmers cannot do without them. In fact, natural carcinogens and other toxins present in all plants protect them against fungi, insects and animal predators. Some of the studies reveal that the output of cotton and rice drops by 15-20 percent without the use of pesticides. For producing healthy and consumable food, chemical pesticides will have a definite role to play in ensuring food and nutrition security. They are safe if sprayed at recommended intervals and doses.
