The just concluded Airtel Border-Gavaskar trophy has been one tremendous series for India. All the players in the Indian team contributed significantly for its victory. But for the Watson-Gambhir incident, this series was played neatly by both the teams. There are some drawbacks which need to be mentioned.Both the teams were trying to play defensive.None of the Australian players averaged over 50 in this series.Why Krezja hasn't been introduced earlier in the series. Most important of all is the sloppy fielding done by both the teams. This series has seen lot of missed catches and some terrible misfield. On the positive side, the Indian spinners have done extremely well. Amit Mishra is a very good replacement for Anil Kumble, he justs need to sharpen his skills with advice from senior players. Jason Krezja is a tremendous success for Australia but for the amount of runs he gives away. His height and good arm action helps him a lot. Gautam Gambhir and VVS Laxman has been the most successful batsmen in this series with each scoring a double century and some fifties. The Australians surely miss the likes of Shane warne, Adam Gilchrist and Andrew Symonds. Hope they correct their mistakes before they come for next series in this subcontinent. Anil Kumble and Sourav Ganguly had a fitting farewell after drubbing Australia 2-0 in this series.
