The Tamilnadu government has introduced the smart card driving license system which is being followed at some other parts of the country. According to this system, the people applying for license will be put to test and if they pass the test successfully, a smart card containing information about that person will be issued to him/her . This smart card will also be provided when registering a new vehicle with the RTO. If the driver commits any mistake or break the rules, the traffic police with a help of a smart card writer machine logs the incident into the smart card. The data in the card cannot be erased but data can be added to it by authorized people. This helps to prevent any malpractice. Hope more good schemes like this are introduced for the betterment of the nation.
